How it works

Your path to becoming a SD SkillsUSA state officer

  1. 1

    Be an active member

    Any high school or post-secondary student with paid SkillsUSA membership in an active South Dakota chapter is eligible.

  2. 2

    Submit the application

    Complete the State Officer application and share your leadership goals for career and technical education in South Dakota.

  3. 3

    Selection or election

    Depending on the number of applicants, officers are chosen by Board of Directors recommendation and/or a delegate election.

  4. 4

    Serve and lead

    Officers for the concurrent year are selected prior to SLSC and represent SD at the National Leadership & Skills Conference.

State Officer positions are open to any high school or post-secondary SkillsUSA member with paid membership in an active chapter. Candidates fill out the State Officer application; selection may be based on Board of Directors recommendation and/or an election, depending on the number of applicants. Officers for the concurrent year are selected prior to SLSC.
